Since 2004, OSUSD has offered scholarships to San Diego’s top students. These scholarships are awarded based on both merit and need, and help offset the cost of attending The Ohio State University as an out-of-state student. This is one of the most important ways we, as a Club, pay it forward.
The Gary M. Rectenwald Scholarship Fund of San Diego, California would not be possible without donations from alumni, friends and family of the University. Please consider donating, even if it is a small amount. Remember, your charitable gift applies towards your sustaining membership ($75 for football ticket eligibility) and some employers offer matching gift programs. There are two ways to donate to our endowed scholarship fund:
- By phone
Call (614) 292-2141 and mention account #605983
You will receive a 501c3 receipt directly from The Ohio State University Alumni Association (OSUAA) for your scholarship donation.
Congratulations to our scholarship recipients for this academic year:
- Kendall Jordan, Serra High School
- Ben Ehrlich, Torrey Pines High School
Additionally, OSUSD continues to support students who have maintained or exceeded a 3.0 GPA. We have renewed the scholarships for the following upperclassmen:
- Ryan Burke, Valhalla High School
- Christopher Spartz, Poway High School
- Allison Martins, Poway High School
- Matthew Smith, St. Augustine High School
- Elizabeth Ellis, Cathedral Catholic High School
Scholarship applications are distributed by mail each February to high school seniors in San Diego County who have applied to attend The Ohio State University. If you have any questions, please contact the Vice President of Student Scholarships, Karen Curtis, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
