DIRECTORS’ CUP STANDINGS: Buckeyes Vault to Third in Directors’ Cup Standings

Three Buckeye teams have posted Top 10 finishes this spring –

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the second set of spring Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, Ohio State has climbed to third place behind Stanford and UCLA and ahead of fourth-place Michigan and fifth-place Texas.

The Buckeye men’s tennis team posted a 34-3 record on its way to a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship.

Five different Buckeyes garnered all-tournament team honors, including Mikael Torpegaard, Kyle Seelig, Marting Joyce, Matt Mendez and Hunter Tubert. The rowing Buckeyes also placed in the Top 10 with a sixth-place finish at NCAA Championships behind CRCA All-Conference picks Rachel Engel, Cassandra Johnson, Ida Kruse, Lexie Nothdurft and Alice Riley. Other Top 25 qualifications for the Buckeyes included a 17th-place showing by softball and a 23rd-place finish from women’s golf.

The strong Buckeye finishes are in addition to a third-place finish from the men’s volleyball Buckeyes earlier in the spring campaign.

The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Complete standings and the scoring structure can be found on NACDA’s website at www.directorscup.org.

The next Division I spring standings will be released Thursday, June 14.
