Resources

Monday, January 10

We hope that you and your families are staying healthy and well.  Recognizing the increase in COVID-19 infections due in large part to the Omicron variant, we wanted to provide you with a few reminders as you navigate in-person or virtual events.

  • Please follow your local health department and CDC guidelines on gatherings that are taking place indoors and out.
  • If your group plans an in-person event at a third-party venue, please follow the venue guidelines.
  • We are here to help with creative programming, and we encourage you to consider sponsoring virtual events with other groups.
  • Our Alumni House Events staff are available to assist with virtual events and webinars.
  • For reference, Ohio State is following these guidelines as it relates to in-person gatherings
    • The university is prioritizing in-person teaching and learning. Due to the Omicron-related case numbers, when possible, other in-person events, gatherings or meetings should be transitioned to virtual formats. The university will closely monitor this so that it can be updated as needed.
    • Food and drinks should not be served at any in-person event, gathering or meeting. Exceptions can be made for third-party space rentals that have already been confirmed, although masking should be strictly enforced.
    • Concessions will be closed at all university-related athletic events. Water will be available.
    • Masks are still required in all indoor spaces on all campuses, regardless of vaccination status.

Thank you for your attention to these recommendations, and for all you do to keep our alumni connected and engaged with Ohio State.

Virtual programming guide for clubs and societies

As we adjust to the profound changes we’re experiencing due to COVID-19, we’re finding new ways to connect with our fellow Buckeyes. We’ve created a guide including some ideas here for category-one events, how to utilize OSUAA resources and more.

Tuesday, March 24

Dear Alumni Group Leaders,

We hope you’re safe and well. Our goal is to keep you informed during these challenging and uncertain times.

The university has canceled or indefinitely postponed all events through June 30, 2020 and will revisit programming at that point. We will not be able to provide event support through the end of June, which includes organizing speakers, designing and sending communications, and having OSUAA team members attend events.

We hope you’ll act in unity with the university and suspend all in-person events through June 30. Please note that we will be honoring your FY20 tiered status for FY21, unless you’ve already moved up a level.

To help maintain connections, we hope to have virtual programming ideas for you by mid-April.

Please reach out to your REO or society liaison if you have any questions regarding non-event communication needs.

Be safe and be well!

Craig

Wednesday, March 18

Hello Group Leaders,

From all of us at the alumni association, we hope this message finds you well during this uncertain time. We’re reaching out to provide some clarity in light of rapidly changing Covid-19 information.

Please know that your Scarlet or Gray status in FY21 will not be affected by events that have been canceled. Any event canceled or planned between now and the end of the fiscal year will be counted toward your requirements.

We are honoring the CDC’s recommendation that gatherings not be held in the coming weeks. For those events that have yet to be canceled, we will not be providing communications or promotional assistance. Please understand that the well-being of our Buckeyes is our top concern.

If you have questions, please call your REO or society liaison.

Thank you for your understanding, and be well.

How firm thy friendship,

Craig
