Resources for Alumni Volunteers

New year, new club/society!

The start of a new year is always a great time to update your Alumni Group succession planning, annual programming or retreat planning. Here are a few brainstorming activities and/or questions that you can ask your board at the next meeting.

Checklist of items to consider:

  • Why did you join the Board? Why do you volunteer?
  • Activity: SWOT Analysis – Strengths – Weaknesses – Opportunities – Threats. Where can your alumni group improve for this upcoming year
  • Creating SMART Goals – Specific – Measurable – Attainable – Relevant – Time-based. Are you goals for this year SMART?
  • Start/ Stop/ Continue – If you put a calendar year of activities in front of everyone, what should you stop, start, or continue to do.
  • Review materials from the 2019 Leadership symposium: https://groups.alumni.osu.edu/2019-symposium-recap/
  • Ask your OSUAA representative how we help with planning your next retreat or brainstorming session: https://alumnigroups.osu.edu/groups/about/contact/
