Delaware Buckeyes Award Annual Scholarships

The OSU Alumni Club of Delaware County is pleased to announce that their latest recipients of their scholarship award.

Sarah Schneider was a 2017 graduate of Olentangy Orange High School and resides in Lewis Center.  She was a member of both the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society.   She was a Girl Scout, participated in the German, recycling and service clubs, played volleyball and track.  She also worked as a ZooAide at the Columbus Zoo.  Sarah plans to major in fine art with a concentration in photography and a minor in German at The Ohio State University, where she started as a freshman in August.  Sarah feels this degree combination will allow her to “touch the heart of the person but also teach the mind”.   Schneider adds that she is “very thankful to have been the recipient of such a wonderful organization that supports me as a student and welcomes me into the Buckeye family that is close to home”.

Neil Patel was a 2017 graduate of Olentangy Liberty High School and resides in Powell.   Patel said “after three weeks in college, I realize the sticker price for tuition and housing is nowhere near the actual cost of going to college, with so many expenses such as books and food. Every dollar truly does count and what this organization is doing is fantastic.

He was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society as well as the National Spanish Honor Society.  Neil was the recipient of the Honda-OSU Math Medal Award and place second and third in the Ohio DECA awards.   In addition, Neil played volleyball, volunteered at Riverside Hospital and worked at Safari Golf.   Neil is also a freshman at The Ohio State University, where he plans to study chemical engineering and business at The Ohio State University with a long-term dream to become a “successful entrepreneur”.   He said he “can’t express how much the money means in terms of helping with my education.”  

The OSU Alumni Club of Delaware County selects scholarship recipients based on a competitive application process.   Sarah and Neil are the fifth and sixth recipients of the club’s scholarship award program since the first award was made for Spring 2015.
