Community Engagement

The Ohio State Alumni Club of Central Florida extend the mantra of “Pay it forward” in Central Florida. We are passionate about service and committed to improving our region, our counties, our cities, our state, and our world.  Central Florida Buckeyes donate school supplies, care packages to our deployed troops, and pints of blood for disaster relief.  In addition, we have raised over $80,000 in scholarship funds to provide exceptional Central Florida students scholarships that are attending The Ohio State University.  Here are some of the charities and causes we support:

TOOLS 4 SEMINOLE SCHOOLS

Formerly A Gift For Teaching Seminole County, Tools 4 Seminole Schools collects, stores and distributes school supplies and classroom materials to help alleviate the burden of costly school supplies for teachers and low-income parents. Since opening in 2010, the store has distributed over $8 million in supplies to students and teachers in Seminole County.

A GIFT FOR TEACHING

The Ohio State Alumni Club of Central Florida has adopted A Gift For Teaching in Central Florida as our local charity.  A Gift For Teaching is a Central Florida non-profit organization that serves public schools in Orange and Osceola Counties.  The Free Store in Orlando and its satellite store, A Gift For Teaching of Osceola County are funded by and stocked by local individuals and companies. Since 1998, more than $59 million worth of school supplies, including essential classroom tools such as pencils, notebooks, glue, backpacks, art supplies and books have been distributed to local students in need.

SECOND HARVEST OF CENTRAL FLORIDA

In 2013, the Ohio State Alumni Club of Central Florida has joined the fight against hunger in Central Florida by committing to support Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.  Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food to more than 500 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties: Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia.
